India and New Zealand Sign 10 Agreements

Current  Context: India and New Zealand strengthened their bilateral relations by signing 10 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and launching the India–New Zealand Strategic Partnership Roadmap to 2030. 

Key Highlights

• The roadmap provides a long-term framework to expand cooperation in trade, defence, education, agriculture, technology and people-to-people ties, while opening new opportunities for investment and economic collaboration.
• Both countries launched the Strategic Partnership Roadmap to 2030 to guide bilateral cooperation over the next decade.
• The roadmap focuses on strengthening collaboration in:
• Trade and investment
• Agriculture and food processing
• Education and research
• Science and technology
• Digital innovation
• Renewable energy
• Defence and maritime security
• Both sides agreed to promote greater cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and support a free, open and rules-based international order.

Objectives

• Increase bilateral trade and investment.
• Strengthen economic and strategic partnerships.
• Promote collaboration in emerging technologies and innovation.
• Expand academic exchanges and research partnerships.
• Enhance cooperation in agriculture, dairy, food security and sustainable development.
