DigiLocker Crosses 72 Crore Users; UMANG Reaches 11 Crore

Current Context: The Government of India has reported a major rise in the use of its digital public service platforms DigiLocker and UMANG under the Digital India Programme. As of 31 July 2026.

Key Points: 

• DigiLocker is a secure digital platform that allows citizens to access, store, share and verify government-issued documents electronically, reducing dependence on physical documents. 
• DigiLocker had more than 72.43 crore registered users, while UMANG had more than 11.66 crore registered users. The figures were provided by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha. 
• DigiLocker has crossed 72.43 crore registered users and recorded about 72.86 crore document-access transactions during the last three years. 
• As of 31 July 2026, DigiLocker offered 5,437 document types/services, comprising.
• 661 Central Government services
• 4,776 State Government services. 
• UMANG stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance. It acts as a single platform through which citizens can access multiple Central and State Government services.UMANG has crossed 11.66 crore registered users and witnessed around 798 crore transactions during the last three years. 
• Around 2,575 services were available through UMANG as of 31 July 2026:
• 880 Central Government services
• 1,695 State Government services.
• Both platforms are integrated with important components of India's Digital Public Infrastructure, including Aadhaar, eSign and API Setu, helping provide secure and paperless government services. 
• The government has also expanded Common Service Centres (CSCs) to improve digital access in rural areas. As of 30 June 2026, 4,07,122 CSCs were operational at the Gram Panchayat level, of which 70,069 were operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.
