Climate scientist Professor Krishna AchutaRao of IIT Delhi’s Centre for Atmospheric Sciences passed away on 4 September 2026. He served IIT Delhi for around two decades, including as Dean (Faculty) and Head of the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences. His research focused on climate-change attribution, extreme weather, climate risks and adaptation. AchutaRao contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the World Climate Research Programme.
