Delhi Doubles ASHA Incentives, Launches Nursing Home Portal

Key Points:

  • What changed? Earlier, eligible DJB pensioners generally had to pay medical expenses upfront and then claim reimbursement. Under the new arrangement, they can access treatment and medical tests without making the initial payment themselves.
  • Who are covered? The facility covers DJB pensioners as well as family pensioners, with more than 50,000 beneficiaries expected to gain from the scheme.
  • How will it work? A single-window cashless system has been introduced to reduce paperwork and simplify access to treatment, especially for elderly retired employees. Where can treatment be taken? The scheme provides cashless medical care through empanelled hospitals and healthcare facilities, removing the immediate financial burden on beneficiaries.
  • Who launched it? The facility was launched by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the presence of Water Minister Parvesh Verma, DJB Vice-Chairman Satish Upadhyay and other officials.
  • Purpose: The initiative aims to make healthcare easier, faster and less financially stressful for retired Delhi Jal Board employees and their families by replacing the reimbursement-heavy process with cashless access.
  • About DJB: The Delhi Jal Board is responsible for water supply and related water and sewage-management services in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
