The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) has been awarded National Rajbhasha Keerti Award.
- MPEDA has bagged the award for the third consecutive year.
- Rajbhasha Keerti Award is presented by Department of Official Language which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs
- This award was introduced to encourage the implementation of the official language policy of the department.
- MPEDA Chairman A Jayathilak received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind
- This award has been given for the best Implementation of Official language in the organization.
About MPEDA
- It was set up by an act of Parliament during 1972.
- Former Marine Products Export Promotion Council established by the Government of India in September 1961 was converged in to MPEDA on 24th August 1972.
- It is the nodal agency for the holistic development of seafood industry in India to realise its full export potential as a nodal agency.
- It focuses is mainly on Market Promotion, Capture Fisheries, Culture Fisheries, Processing Infrastructure & Value addition, Quality Control, Research and Development.
