Anupam Kher has been appointed as the new chief of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
- He will replace Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment in 2015 triggered massive student protests.
- Kher is a critically acclaimed actor who has worked in more than 500 films.
- Previously, he has headed the censor board and the National School of Drama in the past.
