The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Global Clubfoot Conference in New Delhi
- The conference was organised by the CURE India in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
- Doctors from 20 countries and Indian states attended the conference.
What is Clubfoot?
- It is a birth defect in which one or both feet are rotated inwards and downwards.
- The affected foot, calf, and leg may be smaller than the other.
- The cause of this defect is still unclear but some experts associate this defect with distal arthrogryposis or myelomeningocele.
CURE India
- CURE stands for Centre for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE).
- It is a not-for-profit development organization which is working with urban informal and low-income communities
- CURE's mission is to achieve three goals; (i) reconnected urban societies that take rightful decisions to ensure sustainable urban development; (ii) strengthened local agencies with capacities for participatory community development; (iii) and real evidence built from the ground up for effective service delivery.
