Lok Sabha Passes Indian Forest Amendment Bill

Lok Sabha has passed Indian Forest Amendment Bill 2017 tabled by Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan.

Amendment in Section 2

The amendments will put an end to seek permission for transporting bamboo. Also section 2 of the Act would be amended to exclude the word "bamboos" from the definition of tree in. Since bamboo is defined as a tree under the Act, its inter-state movement requires permit when in transit in other states. Consequent to the amendment, felling or transportation of bamboos growing in non-forest areas will not require any permits.
Thus farmers will be encouraged for bamboo plantation to increase their income from agricultural field.
