The President of India inaugurated Andhra Pradesh Fibre Grid Project in Amaravati and dedicated it to the nation.
Aim of the project
The project is aimed at giving internet connectivity in every nook and corner of the state and with this the state will take a step ahead towards digital literacy, good governance and skill development.
Benefit of the project
This project is designed to provide the households, government offices, educational institutes and hospitals with access to high-speed internet and rent-free telephones as well as TV services from December 2018.
Highlights of the project
- The project is implemented by Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) which has now become the largest state government-owned telecommunication company in the country.
- APSFL will offer 5 GB data at 15 MBPS speed and 250 TV channels and a free telephone connection just for Rs. 149
- Two other plans of Rs 399 and Rs 599 are introduced for the households and for private offices and institutions, the plans start at Rs 999 for 50 GB at 100 MBPS and Rs 2499 for 250 GB.
- The 16 district command control centres, all public CCTVs, the AP State Wide Area Network will be integrated into the grid.
Achievements
- APSFL has already laid over 23,000 km long Optical Fibre Cable in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The target is to cover 55,000 kms.
- The first phase of the project targets the households while in the second phase gram panchayats will be covered. Currently, gram panchayats from mandal headquarters, which are already connected through the BSNL network. Horizontal connectivity from gram panchayats to schools and other educational institutions, primary health centres and government offices will be given through WIFI.
