To mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Uttar Pradesh government launched two schemes i.e. Prakash hai to Vikas hai and Kisan Uday Yojana.
Prakash hai to Vikas Hai
This is a free household power connection scheme for the poor and the government has already established the target of 100% electrification of Lohban and Gausana villages of Mathura district.
A target of covering 16 million villages by 2018-end has been set up by the state government against the target of 4 crore under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Saubhagy scheme.
Kisan Uday Yojana
The scheme aims at replacing existing 5 HP/7.5 HP submersible and coupling sets of farmers which would cover 10 lakh farmers by 2022. Consequently, 35 per cent saving on power consumption will be achieved. BPL card holders, those without a roof or having less than Rs 35,000 as income a year are eligible. They can get the connection by paying Rs 550 only as against the earlier Rs 10,000.
