5th bilateral meeting on cooperation in the field of Traditional Systems of Medicine between India and Malaysia was held in New Delhi.
- It was a part of the agreement signed between India and Malaysia in 2010.
- The Joint Secretary in the Ministry of AYUSH, Mr Pramod Kumar Pathak, presided over the meeting from the Indian side while Malaysia was represented by its Deputy Director General Health (Medical), Ministry of Health Malaysia.
- The key issues discussed in the meeting were setting up of an Ayurveda chair in University of UTAR in Malaysia and providing professional training in Panchakarma therapy for Malaysian experts in India.
- The issues of registration of AYUSH practitioners and products in Malaysia were highlighted by the Ministry of AYUSH.
- It was informed that there exists robust system of regulation in the country for AYUSH product, practices and providers in India which could be shared with Malaysian side for reference purpose.
- The Ministry of AYUSH intends to enhance cooperation for designing and developing the policies and strategies in the field of Traditional Medicine in Malaysia.

- Establishing Ayurveda Chair in University of UTAR, Malaysia
- Providing professional training in Panchakarma therapy for the Malaysian experts in India.
- Evaluation of safety norms and efficacy of combination of Ayurvedic or traditional products for clinical trials.
- Safety evaluating Ayurvedic products based on GLP (Good Laboratories Practices).
- A bilateral MoU to be signed between the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH and Malaysia for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants.
- Registration of Homeopathic Practitioner and their capacity building module in Malaysia.
