Anil Khanna to head IOA Finance Commission

Senior Sports Administrator Anil Khanna was named as the Chairman of the Finance Commission of the IOA (Indian Olympic Association).

• The Finance Commission led by Anil Khanna has the Secretary-General of the Indian Weightlifting Federation Sahdev Yadav and Secretary of the Uttarakhand Olympic Association, D K Singh as its members.
• A four-member advisory committee was also formed. The advisory committee comprises Tarlochan Singh, GS Mander, S Regunathan and BS Landge.
• The IOA also formed a Medical Commission and Games Technical Conduct Committee and nominated office bearers of the IOA and National Sports Federation (NSF) to the committees.
• Pawan Deep Singh Kohli was named Chairman of the Medical Commission.
• Mukesh Kumar, President, Judo Federation of India, has been nominated Chairman of the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) for National Games.

What is IOA?

IOA refers to the Indian Olympic Association which is responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games and other International Games. It is responsible for managing the team at these events. It also acts as the Indian Commonwealth Games Association which is responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Commonwealth Games. It was established in 1927 and has its headquarters in New Delhi. Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra is the President of the IOA at present and Rajeev Mehta is the Secretary-General.
