The Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) was released at the 48th World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
Though India has improved its position it lags behind the other BRICS nations.
The BRICS nations have acquired the following positions in the Global Talent Competitiveness Index-
8 out of the top 10 spots are occupied by the European countries.
- The list was topped by Switzerland whereas India was ranked 81st out of the 119 countries.
- India managed to improve its position from 92nd rank last year to 81st rank this year.
- The Global Talent Competitiveness Index measures how countries grow, attract and retain talent.
Key Highlights
The 2018 Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) report has been titled “Diversity for Competitiveness”. It focusses on the role of diversity in forming talent policies and innovation strategies.Though India has improved its position it lags behind the other BRICS nations.

- Russia- 53rd rank
- South Africa- 63rd rank
- Brazil- 73rd rank
- India- 81st rank
