The Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi inaugurated online portal NARI in New Delhi.
With an initiative to empower women, this portal was launched to provide women citizens with easy access to information on various government schemes and initiatives for women.
The portal contains information on the schemes being run by both the Centre as well as the State governments.

Key features of NARI
- NARI portal is developed by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
- The portal summarizes around 350 government schemes and other relevant information for the empowerment of women.
- It also provides links to various ministries, departments and autonomous bodies which are offering such schemes.
- The portal provides easy access to online applications and grievance redressal.
- It includes tips and information on good nutrition, diseases, suggestions for health check-ups, information on crime against women, investment advice, contacts of legal aid cells, etc.
e-Samvad portal was also launched
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development also launched the e-Samvad portal.
- It will provide a platform for the NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) to interact with the WCD Ministry.
- This will boost formulation of effective policies as well as measures for the welfare of women and children.
Some Important Programmes Launched by Menka Gandhi
In 2015, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi launched the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) HealthPhone programme which world’s largest digital mass education programme for addressing malnutrition in women and children.
