4 Indians among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People

The TIME magazine has released the 100 Most Influential People List for 2018.
  • The 2018 list features the names of four self-made Indians-
    • Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli
    • Deepika Padukone (Actress)
    • Bhavish Agarwal (Founder of Ola)
    • Satya Nadella (Microsoft CEO)

Other details

  • Virat Kohli was only one of two sportspersons outside of the US to be included in the TIME's 100 most influential people list. The other being Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer.
  • For the first time in history, a record number of 45 women and 45 people under the age of 40 have made it to the much-renowned list.
  • Some of the leaders who made it to the list are-
    • Donald Trump (US President)
    • Kim Jong-un (North Korea Supreme Leader)
    • Emmanuel Macron (French President)
    • Xi Jinping (Chinese President)
    • Sheikh Hasina (Bangladesh’s PM)

  • 14 year old English actress and model, Millie Bobby Brown has become the youngest person to be named as one of the world’s 100 most influential people.

It is compiled by the American news magazine ‘Time’. It was first published in the year 1999 as a result of a debate among American academics, politicians and journalists.
