The All Electric Superfast Train manufactured under the Make in India project was flagged off by our honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

  • India’s first all-electric high speed locomotive with 12,000 horsepower was flagged off in Bihar. It is considered to be a great boost to the Make in India initiative of the Modi government.
  • The train was developed at Madhepura’s Electric Locomotive Factory in collaboration with a French firm Alstom.
  • With the launch of this high speed locomotive, India has joined the league of nations including Russia, China, Germany and Sweden where such locomotives are operational.

Aim

To mark Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha anniversary, PM Modi has launched the “Satyagraha se Swachhagrah” campaign. This campaign is a fusion of two national concepts of Satyagraha and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. To mark this event, the superfast train was flagged off which primarily aims to stop open defecation in Bihar. It will not only give a boost to Clean India mission but also become a major source of employment in Bihar. It aims to reduce the greenhouse emissions as well as to reduce the costs for the railways.
