An MoU has been signed between India and World Expo 2020 in order to showcase the inventions of the Industrial Revolution.
- Setting up of its pavilion at the expo will give India a great opportunity to accomplish its objective of becoming a $ 5 trillion economy by 2025.
- The contract was signed by Manoj K. Dwivedi, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, on Indian side and Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau on behalf of Expo 2020.
- The world Expo 2020 is held once in 5 year, with a vision to foster creativity, innovation and collaboration globally.
Key Features
- India has designated Binoy Kumar, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, as Director General of World Expo 2020 Dubai.
- According to the contract signed, India will set up a pavilion at the Expo 2020 on a plot of about one acre in the ‘Opportunity’ segment.
- Setting up its pavilion at the Expo would help India to showcase its strength in high technology areas like artificial intelligence, fintech, space and green energy.
- The pavilion will be developed in public-private partnership mode.
- Significant focus areas will be – India’s advances in Space, Pharma, IT, Renewable Energy and Telecom sectors at the pavilion.
- A number of state governments, various ministries of central government and major industry associations and businesses have shown interest in partnering and participating in World Expo 2020 which will take place for six months beginning October 2020.
- To participate in India’s pavilion, leading industries and businesses will work closely with Central government and State governments.
