Kidambi Srikanth replaced Viktor Axelsen of Denmark to become the No. 1 player in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

  • He topped the rankings with 76,895 points in men's singles category to displace current world champion Viktor Axelsen,
  • The Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee is one of Dronacharya Pullela Gopichand’s pupils.
  • This is the second time when an Indian male Badminton player has achieved World rank No. 1 after Prakash Padukone did so in 1980.
  • Srikanth bagged the mixed team gold in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2018.
