- 51 year-old Tamang was administered the oath by Governor Ganga Prasad at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, Sikkim.
- He took the oath in Nepali.
- SKM won 17 seats in the 32-member assembly, ousting former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling-led Sikkim Democratic Front after over 24 years.
- Mr.Golay assured the people that his government would work to ensure peace in Sikkim, and for the welfare of all sections.
- He also announced that Saturdays would be a holiday for government employees.
