- Bangladesh has observed the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15th August 2019, who was Bangladesh's first President and was assassinated along with 16 of his family members on this day in 1975.
- On 15th August 2019, Prime Minister Modi has announced 'Jal Jivan' mission in his independence day speech to make drinking water available to all households and would spend 3.5 lakh crore rupees for it.
