- The Gandhi Nagar model village built with Indian assistance was inaugurated in Sri Lanka and is named after Mahatma Gandhi, in his 150th birth anniversary. Government of India has partnered with the Sri Lankan government to build 100 model villages under the Indian Housing Project meant for war-affected people.
