Current context: PM Modi attended the 20th Annual Summit between India and Russia at Vladivostok, Russia.

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fields of LNG Business and LNG supplies, energy and science, military and technical cooperation etc. were signed by the leaders.
  • Russia proposed to set up more than 20 nuclear power units in India over the next 20 years in the meeting.
  • Moscow has decided to confer PM Modi with the highest civilian award of the country- the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First.
  • Both the leaders paid a visit to the 'Zvezda' Shipbuilding Complex, which is poised to make a huge contribution to the development of Arctic shipping.
  • The 1st India-Russia Summit was held in 2001 at the time of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee's.
