- Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the Tamil writer and poet Subramania Bharathi on his birth anniversary on 11th Dec 19. He was named as ‘Mahakavi Bharathiar’ and was a symbol of patriotism and social reform.
- External Affairs Ministry will host the 6th Indian Ocean Dialogue and Delhi Dialogue XI at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi on 13th and 14th Dec 19.
- The Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 has been passed by the Parliament, with the Rajya Sabha approving it on 11th Dec 19. The bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on 9th Dec 19. It amends the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make illegal migrants of six communities (Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan eligible for Indian citizenship.
- The Inaugural test flight of the world's first fully-electric commercial aircraft took place in Vancouver, Canada. Engineering firm magniX designed the technology and worked in partnership with Harbour Air.
- Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has started the scheme of National award for outstanding services for institutions and individuals working in the field of Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug abuse. The award would be presented on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2020.
