Gandhi Citizenship Education Prize

Current context: Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa has announced that Portuguese will organize Gandhi Citizenship Education Prize every year.

• Mr Antonio Costa announced the award while addressing the 2nd meeting of the National Committee for Commemoration of the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
• The Gandhi Citizenship Education Prize is initiated in order to help perpetuate Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals inspired by his different thoughts and quotes.
• The first prize will be dedicated to animal welfare on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi that the greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
