QRSAM Missile Successfully Test Fired

Current context: Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile, QRSAM system was successfully flight-tested from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the Odisha coast on 23rd Dec 19.

 

• The QRSAM missile system is indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO.
• The objective of the missile is to operate in the deployment mode intercepting the target mid-air.
• The features of the QASAM system includes:

1. It Comprises of fully automated Command and Control System
2. Have Active Array Battery Surveillance Radar
3. The radars are four-walled having 360-degree coverage with a search on move and track on move capability.
4. It has a single-stage solid propelled system

• The missile system will be inducted by 2021 once the developmental trials of the weapon system are successfully completed.
