Current context: The Second National GST Conference of the Commissioners of State Tax and Chief Commissioners of Central Tax was held in New Delhi on 7th January 2020.
Second National GST Conference 
  • The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Revenue Secretary Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey.
  • Centre and States took measures for necessary action to streamline the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system and plug revenue leakage, that include:
    1. Curbing fraudulent refund claims.
    2. Linking foreign exchange remittances with IGST refund.
    3. Investigation of fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) cases by the IT Department.
    4. A single bank accounts for foreign remittance receipt.
    5. The centre and state officers committee are to be constituted to examine and implement quick measures to curb fraudulent refund claims.
    6. The investigation wing of the Income Tax Department will compulsorily investigate all the major cases of fake Input Tax Credit, export/import fraud and fraudulent refunds.
    7. CBDT, CBIC and GSTN will sign an MoU to exchange data through API, from CBDT to GSTN and CBIC and vice-versa, to be shared quarterly instead of being shared on a yearly basis.
  • The 1st National GST Conference of Commissioners of State Tax and Chief Commissioners/Director Generals of Central Tax was held on 25th November 2019 under the chairmanship of the Union Revenue Secretary Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey, in New Delhi.
