  • India's Vidit Santosh Gujrathi won the Masters event of the Prague Chess Festival with a win over Sam Shankland of the USA. The "2nd Prague Chess Festival" in the Czech capital will be held from 12th to 22nd February 2020.

Priti Patel has been appointed as the Home Minister and Alok Sharma has been appointed as the Business Secretary in the British Cabinet.
  • Bhawna Jat (India) qualified for the 2020 Olympics after setting a new national record in the 20-kilometre race walk category at the National Championships in Ranchi on 15th Feb 2020. The 2020 Olympics will be held in Tokyo from 24th July to the 9th of August 2020.
  • The first-ever Global Investors Summit-2020 is to be held in April 2020 in Jammu and Kashmir. An apex committee headed by Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam has been constituted for the successful conduct of the summit.
