- Mo O'Brien, a 60-year-old pharmacy worker has become the first deaf person on record to row an ocean by finishing a 3,000-mile journey across the Atlantic. She with her crew landed on the Caribbean island of Antigua 49 days after setting out from the Canary Island of La Gomera in December.
- 'Rubigula', Flame-Throated Bulbul, has been unveiled as the official mascot for the Goa 2020 National Games in Panaji, Goa. Goa will be hosting the 36th edition of the National Games from 20th October to 4th November 2020. The Flame-Throated Bulbul is the state bird of Goa.

- Haryana's Adarsh Singh and Madhya Pradesh's Shreya Agrawal won double titles in Shooting at the National trials for rifle and pistol disciplines in Thiruvananthapuram. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar also won the men's 50 metres rifle 3 positions T2 trial.
- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh inaugurated the month long Ekushey Book fair at the Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on 2nd Feb 2020. Ekushey Book Fair is the biggest and longest book fair of Bangladesh.
- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India has sent relief supplies to cyclone-hit Madagascar using its naval ship INS Airavat. Madagascar has been hit by a cyclone and there has been heavy flooding and landslides since January. Earlier, the Indian Navy launched operation Vanilla to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief at Madagascar.
