Madhya Pradesh Bagged 1st Position for Implementation of PMMVY

Current context: Madhya Pradesh has bagged the first position for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

• Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani will present this award to Madhya Pradesh on 3rd February 2020 in New Delhi.
• Imarti Devi, Madhya Pradesh Minister for Women and Child Development and Principal Secretary Anupam Rajan will receive the award.
• Indore district has also bagged the first place for better performance of the scheme.
• The Matru Vandana Yojana provides incentives of five thousand rupees for the loss of wages of working women and to ensure their proper rest and nutrition during pregnancy.
• The objectives of the scheme are:

1. Providing partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first living child.
2. The cash incentives provided would lead to improved health seeking behaviour amongst Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM).

• Maternity benefits of Rupees Five Thousand is provided in three instalments to Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) upon fulfilment of certain conditions.
• The payment of the incentive amount is deposited directly into the bank account.
