Lalremsiami: 2019 FIH Women's Rising Star of the Year

Current context: The International Hockey Federation has named Hockey striker Lalremsiami as the 2019 FIH Women's Rising Star of the Year on 11th Feb 2020.
Lalremsiami: 2019 FIH Women's Rising Star of the Year 
  • India forward Lalremsiami (19-year-old), took the prize ahead of Argentina's Julieta Jankunas (Second) and Frederique Matla (third) of the Netherlands.
  • She belongs to Mizoram and got 40 % of all the votes cast with 47.7% of her votes from among national associations, 28.4% from the media and 36.4% from fans/players.
  • She was one of the stand-out players at the Hockey Women's World Cup in 2018.
  • She made her debut in 2017 in a test series against Belarus and became top gaolscorer twice in her short senior career.
  • At the Ready Steady Tokyo event, which took place in August 2019, Lalremsiami scored the winning goal in the final against Japan.
