Current Context: Government of India and Department of Science and Technology (DST) have launched an application which is an integrated geospatial platform called ‘SAHYOG’.

  • The basic aim behind this integrated geospatial platform is to help in decision making and supporting in area-specific strategies in order to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak and to handle its socio-economic impact and to provide a motivation for creating positive growth in its recovery phase.
  • SAHYOG is a mobile application as well as a web portal (https://indiamaps.gov.in/soiapp/) which is managed by Survey of India (SoI) and it will support the citizens and agencies to face the challenges related to socio-economic distress, health, and livelihood.
  • The platform helps to boost the public health delivery system of the state as well as center governments and provides necessary geospatial information related to COVID-19 by collecting specific datasets via community engagement.
