'MatirSmristi' Scheme—West Bengal

Current Context: Government of West Bengal has launched 'MatirSmristi' scheme. The scheme is launched to make utilization of 50,000 acres of barren land in 6 districts namely Bankura, Birbhum, Purulia, Jhargram, West Burdwan and West Midnapore of West Bengal.
'MatirSmristi' Scheme—West Bengal
  • The scheme will provide benefit to around 2.5 lakh people in rural Bengal.
  • The barren land will be used for doing horticulture and pisciculture and the work has been initiated in 6,500 acres of land at the micro-level.
