The Agro MSME Policy

Current Context: Union Minister for Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced to introduce an Agro MSME Policy that will focus on entrepreneurship development in rural, tribal, agricultural,

and forest areas for manufacturing products using local raw material.

• An Agro MSME policy will be launched to focus on export enhancement and import substitution to replace foreign imports with domestic production.
• It will be also focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship, science and technology, research skill and experiences to convert the knowledge into wealth.
• It will aim to provide a further extension of the moratorium, payment of salaries to workers during lockdown from their ESI and Provident Fund, a helpline for MSMEs, strengthening access to finance, etc.
• AnAgro MSME policy is launched to focus and uplift the MSME sector which is affected during lockdown amidst COVID-19.
