‘eBloodServices’ Mobile App Launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan

Current Context: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan launched a blood donation mobile app called ‘eBloodServices’.

• The app is an application of the Indian Red Cross Society (ICRS). 
• It is developed by E-Raktkosh team of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) under the Digital India initiative.
• With the help of this app, four units of blood can be demanded at a time and the blood bank will wait for as long as 12 hours for the person to collect it.
• With the help of the app, the one who wants blood will have to place a request of blood and the requisite unit becomes visible to the IRCS, NHQ blood bank in its E-Raktkosh dashboard.
• This app is thus helpful for those who are in demand for blood especially in the COVID-19 pandemic situation and in other emergency situation since blood demand will be made available within a short time of span to the needy ones.
