Current Context: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched Project Development Cell (PDC) with an aim to generate investment in clean energy that is to increase solar energy usage.
- MNRE has set up this PDC under its joint secretary Amitesh Kumar Sinha.
- The PDC will be represented by Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Director of MNRE Ruchin Gupta and other official staff of Grid Solar Power Division and Invest India.
- The PDC will be responsible to offer investments for renewable energy projects, to identify and resolve issues arising in investment in the projects. PDC will also help in works like detailed project report, land availability, internal infrastructure for the for renewable energy projects.
- A portal will be developed by the officials in order to receive proposals form energy sector which will describe detail procedure for submitting proposals.
- Project Development Cell (PDC) will help to meet center’s 175 GW target for green energy capacity by 2022.
