‘Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients’—Report by TIFAC
(TIFAC), has released a report which describes the list of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) which are in need of prioritized manufacturing and the associated advantages.
  • The report is entitled ‘Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients- Status, Issues, Technology Readiness, and Challenges’.
  • The report states that the API’s production is needed to be scaled up to a certain level at the pharma industries where he APIs are economically viable.
  • The report focuses on enhancing engineering and technological aspects for the APIs and to achieve, boost chemical engineering sector with defined targets so that it will develop a skilled workforce and the researchers in the associated fields and which will thus lead to the uninterrupted synthesis of molecules.
  • Also, the TIFAC mentioned in the report to create mega drug manufacturing cluster with advanced infrastructure and technology platform which will reduce the process of cost optimization and for fluorination, to have an investment in fermentation sector, to achieve techno-economic feasibility
  • They also aim to attain attention to the technologies like hazardous reaction, flow chemistry, cryogenic reactions and membrane technology.
  • Also, the TIFAC has asked GOI to encourage the chemical and pharma based industries to work in collaboration with advanced technology.
