Current Context: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), on account of its 39th foundation day organized ‘Digital Choupal’.
- This year it is the first version of ‘Digital Choupal’.
- The ‘Digital Choupal’ was conducted by video conference and was participated by various entities with whom NABARD has signed projects.
- The participated members shared their experience about the projects they are involved in with NABARD.
- Also on its occasion of 39th foundation day, NABARD announced Rs 5,000 crore of refinance scheme for banks and financial institutions.
- Also, NABARD announced another Rs 5,000 crore for converting Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), into multi service centers. Of which, 5,000 PACS will be upgraded in 2020 followed by 15,000 PACS in FY 2022 and 15000 PACS in FY 2023.
- From the Rs 5,000 crore allotted to refinance scheme for banks and financial institutions, Rs 2,150 crore will be used for watershed development projects.
