Current Context: E-commerce industry Flipkart has entered into an agreement with the government of Karnataka to promote arts, crafts and handloom sector of the state.
- For this purpose, the E-Commerce giant Flipkart has signed MoU with Department of MSME and Mines of the government of Karnataka.
- This initiative of promoting art, craft and handloom sector is taken by Flipkart under its Samarth programme, which will allow local artisans, weavers and craftsmen of Karnataka to showcase their products.
- This partnership will provide branding, digital marketing platform to local artisans, weavers and craftsmen of Karnataka and will thus help to increase their income source as well.
- Thus, the e-commerce platform for the sale of art-work, craft-work and handlooms will prove beneficial to the local artisans, weavers and craftsmen of Karnataka, as their businesses are rest at a halt due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the state is facing lockdown situation.
