‘Towards a Clean Energy Economy Report’

Current Context: National Institute for Transforming India (NITI)Aayog in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) has released a report on clean energy transition titled as
‘Towards a Clean Energy Economy Report’
‘Towards a Clean Energy Economy: Post COVID-19 Opportunities for India’s Energy and Mobility Sector’.
  • The report describes the specific actions by which India will be able to review and boost its two main economic sector namely transport and power sector which is highly impacted during lockdown situation arisen due to COVID-19.
  • The report has also laid down four principles to boost economy in post COVID-19 situation.
  • The principles are (a) Invest in least-cost-energy solutions (b) Support resilient and secure energy systems. (c)Prioritise efficiency and competitiveness. (d) Promote social and environmental equity.
  • For boosting of transport sector, the report describes ‘Shifting to clean Passengers and Freight Movement’ and for power sector , report describes ‘Providing clean , affordable and reliable electricity’.
