Current Context: The 6th BRICS Environment Ministers Meeting was conducted via video conference. The meeting was participated by all the environment minister of the BRICS nation.
- India was represented by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar.
- The meet was held under the presidency of Russia.
- Union Environment Minister discussed about the efforts undertaken by India to achieve sustainable urban management , tackling marine litter, air pollution and cleaning of rivers and thus achieve Sustainable Development Goal.
- He also addressed that India support to achieve the global goal of climate change mitigation and adaption in coordination with other nations by believing in equity, common but differentiated responsibilities, finance, technology partnership etc.
- He also made a statement that India is believing and walk the talk on Paris Agreement and its Climate commitments.
