Current Context: NITI Aayog has launched an Indian component called as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)- Transport Initiative for Asia (TIA), which is a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform.
- NDC-TIA is supported by International Climate initiative (IKI), belonging to the ministry of Germany for environment, nature conservation and nuclear safety (BMU). NITI Aayog is the implementing partner for NDC-TIA in India.
- The NDC-TIA will offer a platform to provide inputs by various entities related to challenges faced in India’s transport system.
- The inputs are expected to reduce CO2 emission.
- Along with this, the platform aims to focus on electric mobility by interconnecting the transport and energy sector.
- NDC-TIA will offer technical support to reduce GHG emissions and to develop policy recommendations for electric vehicles.
- The platform aims to decarbonize transport sector in India, Vietnam and China.
- The platform will be active for the duration of 4 years.
