Current Context: The Punjab assembly passed and gave approval for a resolution against Centre’s Farm Ordinance.
Punjab passed a Resolution Against Centre’s Farm Ordinance

  • The resolution was tabled by Punjab’s CM Amarinder Singh.
  • As per the resolution, the ordinances were against farmers, in terms of their rights and federal structure.
  • The resolution is against: Farmers produce ordinance 2020, farmers agreement on price assurance and farm services ordinance 2020, essential commodities ordinance 2020, electricity amendment bill 2020.
  • As per the chief minister, the farmer's related ordinances were not only against the agriculture marketing system but also against the constitutions.
  • All the four ordinances were direct intruding in the activities of state and thus were against cooperative federalism, and hence passed the resolution against them.
