Current Context: The government of Andhra Pradesh is set to launch the YSR Cheyutha Scheme and YSR Asara Scheme.
- The scheme is launched to provide benefit to the rural economy of the state which will help them to tackle the economic crisis during the pandemic situation of COVID-19.
- About YSR Cheyutha Scheme: YSR Cheyutha Scheme will help to make rural part of the state as self–reliant by promoting and inculcating the skills of entrepreneurship among the women.
- An amount of Rs 4,500 crore has been allotted by the state government for this scheme.
- The scheme is predicted to be beneficial to around 25 lakh women.
- Under this YSR Cheyutha Scheme, each of the beneficiaries will be paid Rs 75,000 within 4 years at the rate of Rs 18,750 per annum.
- A loan worth three to four times the value of the amount received will be given under this scheme.
- About YSR Asara Scheme: Under this scheme, the government has decided to provide relief 90 lakh women belonging to 9.33 lakh DWCRA groups by waiving their outstanding loan amounts of about Rs 27,168 crore.
- To smoothly build these both schemes, Andhra Pradesh government has signed MoU with Proctor Gamble, Amul, HUL and ITC.
