Current Context: The first joint commission meeting between India and Angola was held via video conference.

  • India was represented by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Angola was represented by Ambassador Tete Antonio, Minister of External Relations. 
  • The dignitaries discussed enhancing trade relations between countries and they also discussed to achieve cooperation in the field of telecommunication, agriculture, defence, pharma, health and food processing. 
  • Three agreements were signed between them namely: (a) Agreement to exempt visa for holders of diplomatic, official and service passports (b) Agreement in the fields of health (c) Agreement to achieve cooperation between the ministry of external relations and Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service. 
  • The second joint commission meets between India and Angola will be held in 2022.
