BIMSTEC Meet 2020

Current Context: India attended the BIMSTEC Meet 2020 in order to review and expand support among associated countries of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral 

Technical and Economic Cooperation).

• India was represented by Secretary (East) in Ministry of External Affairs Vijay Thakur Singh.
• The dignitaries of the BIMSTEC countries discussed the challenges which are arisen due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
• They discussed to deal with the economic impact which is highly affected due to COVID-19. 
• BIMSTEC 2020 meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sri Lanka.
