Current Context: Google Pay has launched a feature for card based payments through tokenisation on its platform.
Google Pay rolls out Tokenisation on its platform
  • For this purpose, Google pay has entered into partnership with Visa. 
  • This tokenisation feature will allow consumers to perform payment transactions by using credit or debit cards without sharing the card details through the secure digital token which will be attached to their smart phones. 
  • The feature will offer the use of the tap-to-pay feature on near-field communications (NFC) enabled POS terminal and online merchants. 
  • It will work with online merchants, offering with seamless One Time Password (OTP) experience, without directing to 3D secure sites. 
  • The Goggle Pay’s tokenisation feature will allow the secure omni-channel experience to the users. 
  • The feature will be rolled out to the users of Axis, SBI Card and Kotak bank.
