Current Context: Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the ‘Health in India Report 2020’. 
Health in India Report 2020
  • The report describes data related to the health sector of the country. 
  • To draft this report, the information was provided by NSS Schedule 25.0 (Household Consumption: Health). 
  • The report is framed on the basis of survey which was conducted from around 1.13 households which covered around 5.55 lakh people. 
  • As per the report, nearly 7.5% of Indians are suffering from disease. 
  • In rural area, 6.8% are suffering from an ailment, and in urban area, 9.1% are suffering from an ailment. 
  • The report also describes the heath sector on the basis of religious community across country. 
  • As per the data from report, the Zoroastrian community are most susceptible to ailments. As per the analysis, 31.1% of Zoroastrian, are suffering from ailments.
  • The data for other religious community is: Jains (11.2%), Sikhs (11%), Christians (10.5%), Muslims (8.1%), Buddhists (8%) and Hindus (7.2%).
  • As per the gender classification of health, females are more susceptible to suffering from ailments than men.
  • In rural areas, 6.1% male and 7.6% females are suffering from ailments.
  • In urban areas, 8.2% male and 10% females are suffering from ailments.
