Current Context: Ministry of MSME has given approval for Khadi Agarbatti Aatma Nirbhar Mission.
- Khadi Agarbatti Aatma Nirbhar Mission aims to create employment opportunities for migrant workers and skilled artisans in various states on India.
- It will support financially to the local agarbatti industries and handholding artisans associated with this sector.
- Earlier Rs 2.66 crore were offered to about 500 artisans for this mission. Now the support is increased to more than Rs 55 crore.
- Under this scheme, immediate financial support of Rs 3.45 crore will be offered to 1500 artisans.
- Two well-equipped centers at IITs/NITs and at Fragrance and Flavor Development Centre, Kannauj will be developed under this scheme.
- Also, automatic agarbatti making machine and powder mixing machines will be offered to the artisans and industries.
