- The bills passed by LS are: (a)Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 (b)Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020.
- Both the bills aim to bring development in agriculture sector and to raise the income of farmers.
- Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020: This bill offers barrier free inter-state and intra-state trade operations for farmers. The farmers and traders can sell and purchase agri produce at remunerative prices through competitive alternative trading channels. The bill also offers framework for electronic trading and the matters related to it. It has also provided framework for electronic trading in the transaction platform to ensure seamless trade electronically.
- Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020: This bill aims to create a framework for farming agreements which will empower farmers so that they can engage themselves in agri-allied activities like agri-business firms, wholesale, exports and retail operation of farm produce. The bill transfers the risk of market unpredictability from farmer to the sponsor so that farmers will be able to utilise modern technology. The bill aims to increase farmers income and reduce the cost of marketing for them.

Current Context: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar introduced the two major farm reformative bills in Lok Sabha (LS). Both the bills are passed by Lok Sabha.
