Current Context: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch its first Venus mission in 2025.
ISRO set to launch First Venus Mission ‘Shukrayaan-1’ in 2025
  • The name of ISRO’s first Venus Mission is ‘Shukrayaan-1’. 
  • ISRO will be launching this mission with participation of French Space Agency CNES and Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF). 
  • Venus Mission will be launched to study atmospheric chemistry, compositional variations and dynamics of Venus planet. Through this mission , planet Venus will be explored through satellite instrument VNA (Venusian Neutrals Analyzer).
  • To launch this mission, ISRO has selected VIRAL (Venus Infrared Atmospheric Gases Linker), which is an instrument co-developed with Roscosmos , Russia’s federal space agency and the LATMOS (Atmospheres, Milieux, Observations Spatiales Labrotor) which will be attached to the CNRS.
